Keep These Key RV Spare Parts On Hand

No one wants to spend their vacation hunting down a spare RV part. The nearest store may be miles and miles away, which could mean an exceptionally long detour. All of that time spent driving and shopping could be better spent enjoying the trip!

By keeping essential RV spare parts on hand, you reduce the chances of needing to make that bothersome detour. We recommend bringing the following items on your next vacation.

If you need help finding parts, the experts at Pete’s RV are happy to help. Contact us or stop by our dealerships in South Windsor, Connecticut, South Burlington, Vermont, and Plainville, Massachusetts.

For the Gas System

LP Gas Regulator

The LP gas regulator affects the flow of propane as it goes from the gas tank to the various RV appliances. It plays a role in the comfort of a camper stay, from keeping water warm for showers to keeping food cold in the refrigerator.

When there’s a problem with the gas regulator, it can cause too much or too little gas pressure. If you have a spare regulator, you can easily replace out the broken part.

For the Water System

Water Pump Parts

It’s not uncommon for debris to make its way into the RV water system. If the debris is big enough, it can make the pump valve malfunction. Keep water pump parts on hand, such as impeller parts or an overhaul kit. You will be able to fix the water pump without needing to visit a service department.

Thermocouples

Thermocouples play a role in keeping the water heater running well. Store an extra one or two in your camper, especially if you travel in cold weather!

For the Electrical System

Fuses

During a trip, it’s possible for one (or more) of the fuses to blow. Get the right fuses for your RV’s electrical system and keep a few on hand.

Lightbulbs

A burnt out lightbulb won’t be a disaster. But it can be an inconvenience! A dim room is less comfortable and makes tasks, such as reading or preparing food, more challenging. Spare bulbs take up little space and are easy to store somewhere on the camper.

Incandescent light bulbs are generally a better option since they are more sturdy and less prone to breaking. If you use fluorescent bulbs, be sure to pack them so that they won’t get damaged during the drive.
